This customer’s spraywater control valve problems were discovered during a walkdown of the customer’s facility, scheduled to discover any bad actors and enable them to prepare for upcoming outages pro-actively.
Two older valves were identified as problems. Leaking and cavitation didn’t allow them to put enough steam back into their Steam Turbine Generators (STGs). Furthermore, temperature degradation caused by leakages forced them to use more ‘purchased’ gas in the fuel mix in order to meet their energy requirements. There were also other maintenance complications, difficulty in obtaining parts, and an odd piping scheme that was not sustainable.
With best-in-class Fisher Control Valves, maintenance is now hassle-free. Through team Emerson and Scallon, the customer can get parts or an entirely new valve, if needed, in days or weeks. Furthermore, these valves are specifically designed to put the correct amount of water into the steam system and alleviate the need to bring other boilers online or purchase fuel—just to create steam!
